Episode 43: "Let’s Put Some Rubber in that Dam: The Next Step in the Dental Guys Guide to Endodontic Therapy"

In this episode, we are almost ready to get a file in that tooth.  But before we get to that, we have to cover anesthesia, isolation, and access.  And even a bit before that, by popular demand, we open this can of worms: do you need a microscope to do quality endodontics?  How do scopes compare to loupes and cone beam CT for endodontic diagnosis and treatment outcomes?  We’re almost ready to break out the bleach this week on the dental guys.

Episode 42: “Do Your Canals Smell? A Dental Guys Guide to Endodontic Diagnosis!”

Well, we have been thinking about a series on endodontics for a while now and so it begins!  This is the first in a series of episodes on endo.  We start with diagnosis and the science behind properly treatment planning for root canals.  We will dive into controversies on use of CBCT in endodontics and discuss pain control, antibiotic use, and cracked teeth.  We try to keep it relevant to the everyday decision making that we all deal with in our practices.  And as always, we will try to back our discussion up with research!

Episode 41: "Where are the Wannabes?"

You’re listening to the dental guys episode 41: “Where are the Wanna-Be’s”.  Wes and Jon interview two dental students who spent a week in our offices seeing what we do.  Did they learn anything?  Does dental education need to change or is the foundation we receive in school enough to get you started?  Is apprenticeship still the future of advanced dental training or can you learn it all on YouTube?  We discuss it all this week on the dental guys!

The Dental Guys Episode 38: "The End of Zr as We Know It"

The Dental Guys traveled to Orlando Florida to cover the Academy of Osseointegration Annual Meeting.  Every year we attend this meeting we are continually challenged by research in the field of implants and new innovative ideas.

Based on this year’s meeting, it could be the beginning of the end of sinus lifts, bone grafts, and maybe even full arch zirconium.  Find out what this all means for your practice this week on the Dental Guys!

The Dental Guys Episode 35: “Occlusion Doesn’t Matter"

We record a live episode from the Voices of Dentistry conference where we make a bold statement about occlusion!

For the Voices of Dentistry conference, we decided to pick a very mundane and non-controversial topic: “occlusion doesn’t matter”!  More specifically, we discuss why implant occlusion may not matter as much as we once thought.  We will build a case for this discussing research as well as applying this thought to the theory of the success of short implants.  Recorded live in Nashville, TN!
